TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and announced its Weekly Awards.


April 22, 2024, Coaches' Polls

Region 8 Weekly Awards (for games April 15-21)

  • DI Baseball Player of the Week: Cayden Gaskin, Northwest Florida State
  • DI Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Garrett Brewer, Seminole State
  • DI Softball Player of the Week: Sydney McCray, Florida SouthWestern
  • DI Softball Pitcher of the Week: Esmee Ames, Florida SouthWestern
  • DII Baseball Player of the Week: Chris Arroyo, Pasco-Hernando State
  • DII Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Carter Parks, St. Johns River State
  • DII Softball Player of the Week: Emma Chisholm, Lake-Sumter State
  • DII Softball Pitcher of the Week: Amy Bak, Lake-Sumter State

Spring Sports Updates

  • Baseball
    • Division I: Indian River State College soared from unranked to No. 13 in the NJCAA DI Poll. Northwest Florida State College moved inside the top ten at No. 7. Chipola College and Florida SouthWestern State College are receiving votes. 
    • Division II: In the NJCAA DII Poll, St. Johns River State College is No. 11 and Pasco-Hernando State College received votes. The two teams play a best-of-three series on Thursday and Friday to determine the No. 1 seed in the upcoming FCSAA Division II Baseball Championship. 
  • Softball
    • Division I: In the NJCAA DI Poll, Northwest Florida State, Florida SouthWestern and Indian River State are Nos. 2-4, respectively. The College of Central Florida remains inside the top ten at No. 9 and Gulf Coast State College is lurking close by at No. 11. Santa Fe College is ranked No. 20. 
    • Division II: St. Johns River State moved up one spot to No. 12 in the NJCAA DII Poll
  • Women's Flag Football: Florida Gateway College ran its winning streak to 12 straight with wins over Florida Atlantic (33-0) and Fort Lauderdale (42-0).
  • Women's Tennis: Hillsborough won the 2024 FCSAA Women's Tennis Championship behind wins in six of a possible nine flights. 
  • Beach Volleyball: Palm Beach State won its second straight FCSAA Beach Volleyball Championship, knocking off Lake-Sumter State in the championship match.
  • Women's Golf: FCSAA schools are 1-2-3 after one round at the NJCAA Division I Southeast District Championship in Palm Coast, Fla. Seminole State College leads the team standings, followed by Daytona State College and Eastern Florida State College.
  • Men's Golf: Eastern Florida State is in third place heading to the final round at the NJCAA Division I Southeast District Championship in Union Grove, Ala.
