TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 8, 2022) - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and Player of the Week selections for baseball and softball.


March 7, 2022 Coaches' Polls

Region 8 Player of the Week Awards (for games February 28-March 6)

Congratulations to the following student-athletes who received Player of the Week recognition:

  • Region 8 Baseball Player of the Week: Jack Duffy, Polk State
  • Region 8 Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Carson Dorsey, Gulf Coast State
  • Region 8 Softball Player of the Week: Emily Greek, Gulf Coast State
  • Region 8 Softball Pitcher of the Week: Savana Bradford, Gulf Coast State 

All Player of the Week honorees will be considered for NJCAA Player of the Week honors, which will be announced Wednesday.

Winter Sports Championships Update

  • The streaks continue for Indian River State College Swimming & Diving as both teams claimed national championships on Saturday. That's 48 straight titles for the Pioneer men; 40 straight for the women! Congratulations to the College of the Florida Keys, who participated in its first national championship event! 
  • Florida Gateway College went on the road and beat Fayetteville (N.C.) Technical Community College, 80-77, to win the NJCAA South Atlantic B District Championship and claim a berth in the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championships. The Timberwolves' seed and opening round opponent will be announced during the Division II Selection Show on March 8.
  • Region 8 earned a pair of at-large bids to both the men's and women's Division I Basketball Championships. 
    • Men: FCSAA State Champion Chipola College earned the No. 5 seed while at-large selections Indian River State College and Northwest Florida State College were seeded No. 6 and No. 10, respectively.
    • Women: FCSAA State Champion Northwest Florida State grabbed the No. 4 seed while at-large selections Chipola and Eastern Florida State College were seeded No. 16 and No. 18, respectively.
