TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 19, 2022) - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and Player of the Week selections for baseball and softball.


April 18, 2022 Coaches' Polls

Region 8 Player of the Week Awards (for games April 11-17)

Congratulations to the following student-athletes who received Player of the Week recognition:

  • Region 8 Baseball Player of the Week: Tyler Shelnut, Santa Fe
  • Region 8 Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Ben Chestnutt, Central Florida
  • Region 8 Softball Player of the Week: Shenita Tucker, Florida SouthWestern
  • Region 8 Softball Pitcher of the Week: Baylee Haggard, Florida SouthWestern

All Player of the Week honorees will be considered for NJCAA Player of the Week honors, which will be announced Wednesday.

Spring Championships Updates

  • Hillsborough Community College won the FCSAA Women's Tennis Championship on Friday. The Hawks, along with FCSAA Runners-up St. Petersburg College and third-place State College of Florida, qualified for the NJCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championships.
  • State College of Florida captured the AVCA Two-Year College Beach Volleyball National Championship, knocking off Lake-Sumter State College, 3-2, in the Championship Match, played at Hickory Point Beach in Tavares, Fla.
  • Eastern Florida State College is serving as host school for the NJCAA District 5 Women's Golf Championships, being played at Duran Golf Club. After day one, defending national champion Seminole State College sits atop the leaderboard, followed by Daytona State College and Eastern Florida State.
