Region 8 runners close season out west

EL PASO, Texas (November 23, 2019) - Cross country runners from Region 8 closed the 2019 season with a pair of championship events in the desert southwest.

Up first was the NJCAA Cross Country Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., where state champion Pasco-Hernando State College was the top Region 8 team in the field, finishing 14th. Daytona State College finished 27th.

Seminole State College and Lake-Sumter State College, both making its team debut on the men's side, finished 16th and 24th, respectively. Daytona State finished 31st and Tallahassee Community College placed 44th. 

The NJCAA Half Marathon was held in El Paso, Texas, on November 23. 

Pasco-Hernando State, Daytona State and Florida Gateway College represented Region 8 at the event. All three schools competed in the women's race with Pasco-Hernando State and Daytona State finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, in the team standings. Florida Gateway did not record a team score but had two runners entered unattached. 

Daytona State finished eighth in the men's team standings.
