
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The NJCAA announced its Weekly Awards on Wednesday and Miami Dade College's Katielle Alonzo was named the Division I Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week.
Alonzo, a sophomore outside hitter from Miami, Fla., averaged 4.3 kills over eight sets played last week.
She also posted a .391 hitting percentage on 64 total attempts and averaged 0.3 digs and 0.5 blocks per set.
Alonzo came up particularly big in the much-hyped No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown against Florida SouthWestern. In the Sharks' five-set win, she recorded 22 kils, two digs and four blocks. She followed that with a 12-kill effort vs. Santa Fe.
On Tuesday, Alonzo was named FCSAA Division I Offensive Player of the Week.
