NJCAA Region 8 Volleyball Notebook: September 17

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (September 17, 2019) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its NJCAA Region 8 Division I and Division II Volleyball Coaches’ Polls for September 17 and Division I and Division II Player, Defensive Player and Setter of the Week for all matches played through September 9-15.

The next poll and individual weekly awards will be released September 24.

Player of the Week: Manuela Ibarguen, Polk State
Fr. – OH | Rio Negro, Colombia 

  • Averaged 4.3 kills, 2.6 digs, 0.2 assists, 0.3 service aces and 0.5 total blocks over 11 sets in three matches
  • Helped Polk State remain unbeaten with three match victories
  • Had double-digit kills in all three matches
  • Posted a double-double, 25 kills and 15 digs, in a five-set victory against St. Petersburg

  • Led Miami Dade to a 3-1 week and another win against a nationally-ranked opponent (No. 8 Salt Lake)
  • Recorded double-digit digs in each match, including 25 in the win over Salt Lake

  • Averaged 2.1 kills and 0.6 total blocks over 10 sets in three matches
  • Helped Gulf Coast State to a 3-0 week, including Sun-Lakes Conference wins at Pasco-Hernando State and South Florida State
  • Tallied a .367 hitting percentage

Defensive Player of the Week: Linsey Christianson, Pasco-Hernando State

  • Had 31 digs in a five-set win vs. South Florida State and 39 vs. Gulf Coast State
