CHARLOTTE, Fla. (November 6, 2019) - Region 8 claimed a pair of NJCAA Volleyball Player of the Week honors on Wednesday.
Miami Dade College's Camila De la Rosa was named NJCAA Division I Volleyball Player of the Week while Hillsborough Community College's Caroline Molossi-Benke earned Division I Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honors.
De la Rosa, a freshman setter from Santo Domingo, D.R., averaged 13.1 assists, 2.3 digs and 0.3 kills in four matches during the voting period. She helped lead Miami Dade to the Region 8 Championship and was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
De la Rosa recorded a pair of double-doubles, including a 50-assist, 11-dig effort against top-seed and No. 2 ranked Polk State College. She had 57 assists in the championship match against nationally-ranked Hillsborough.
She was named Region 8 Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Molossi-Benke, a sophomore libero from Toledo, Brazil, averaged 4.6 digs in 20 sets over six matches. She had a pair of 20-dig efforts while leading the Hawks into the championship game of the Region 8 Tournament.
Both De la Rosa and Molossi-Benke were named to the All-Tournament team.
De la Rosa and Molossi-Benke are the sixth and seventh Player of the Week recipients from Region 8 in 2019, joining Miami Dade's Yaniris Miller-Green, Polk State College's Suared Molina, St. Johns River State College's Jordyn Pruski, Hillsborough Community College's Isabel Martin, and St. Petersburg College's Andressa Parise.
