
PALM COAST, Fla. - Seminole State College took another step towards a fifth straight national title on Tuesday, winning the NJCAA Division I Southeast District Championship.
The event, hosted by Daytona State College, was played at the Conservatory at Hammock Beach.
Over two rounds of play, Seminole State shot a 601 (+25), finishing 20 strokes clear of FCSAA rival Daytona State College, who shot 621 (+45). Both teams automatically qualified for the NJCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship.
Eastern Florida State College (+71) placed third and while the Titans missed out on an automatic NJCAA bid, they are well-positioned for one of five at-large invitations to the national championship event.
Seminole State shot +15 in Monday's first round to grab a six-shot lead over Daytona State. The Raiders lowered their score on Tuesday, shooting +10 to pull away from the Falcons.
Leading the way for Seminole State was Jane Huang, who finished atop the individual leaderboard with a +3. She shot a final round 73 (+1) to overtake teammate and Tabitha Hanely, who held a one-stroke lead after the first round. Hanely shot 76 (+4) in the final round.
Daytona State's Samantha Paradise (+6) placed third followed by Eastern Florida State's Gracie Doke (+8) in fourth.
The NJCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship will take place at Duran Country Club in Melbourne, Fla., May 19-24.
