CHARLOTTE, N.C. (November 13, 2019) - Gulf Coast State College's Ahlana Smith was named NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Wednesday.

Smith, a sophomore guard from Charlotte, N.C., averaged 30.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 3.8 steals in four games during the voting period. She shot 52.9 percent (46-of-87) from the field, 41.9 percent (13-of-31) from three and 55.6 percent (15-of-27) from the free throw line.

Smith led Gulf Coast State to four wins, including two against NJCAA No. 9 Florida SouthWestern. In the first win vs. FSW, she had 39 points on 15-of-32 shooting; scored 36 in her next game against Vincennes. 

Smith was named NJCAA Region 8 Player of the Week on Tuesday.
