CHARLOTTE, N.C. (February 13, 2020) - Northwest Florida State College's Chanaya Pinto was named NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Wednesday.

Pinto, a freshman forward from Maputo, Mozambique, averaged 22.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals in two games during the voting period. She shot 50.0 percent (14-of-28) from the field, 50.0 percent (3-of-6) from three and 73.7 percent (14-of-19) from the free throw line.

Pinto led Northwest Florida State to two Panhandle Conference wins, posting a double-double – 20 points and 11 rebounds – against Pensacola State and 25 points and nine boards against Gulf Coast State.

Pinto, who was named NJCAA Region 8 Player of the Week on Tuesday, is Region 8's fourth NJCAA Player of the Week, joining Gulf Coast State College's Ahlana Smith, Miami Dade College's Daliyah Brown and Florida SouthWestern's Za'Nautica Downs.
