MELBOURNE, Fla. - Eastern Florida State College has hired Andrew Zeger as the new head softball coach for the Titans.
Zeger comes to Melbourne from New Jersey where he was the head coach at Georgian Court University, an NCAA Division II school. In his one season at Georgian Court the team went 20-25 overall and 12-10 in the conference, making the postseason.
"I am really excited for this opportunity," Zeger said. "Obviously JUCO softball down here is like the SEC of JUCO, the conference is really good so having that opportunity to coach in it as well as come back home was a perfect fit for me, I love Florida and recruiting in Florida."
The Titans had 40 wins last season and reached the FCSAA Division I/NJCAA South Atlantic District Championships for the first time in 2019.
"It has been great, I like this team, they are bringing good energy and taking it all in and being sponges," Zeger said of the team. "We are still learning each other's lingo, getting them to understand what I want to do and what I expect."
Zeger has been an assistant coach at the United State Military Academy, Army West Point as well as Furman University and Texas A&M Corpus Christi University but he is excited to return to Florida after spending three seasons as an assistant coach at Daytona State College as well as a hitting instructor at ProSwings in Orlando.
The softball team will hold their final home game of the fall season on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. on the Melbourne campus.
