CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The NJCAA announced its Weekly Award winners on Wednesday and Daytona State College's Evan Casterline was named the Division II Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Casterline, a freshman runner from Orlando, Fla., and his teammates were originally scheduled to run at the University of North Florida on September 1, but Hurricane Idalia cancelled the UNF Invite, prompting the Falcons to head south instead and join a crowded field at the Florida Atlantic University Invitational.

Casterline posted a 5K time of 15:54.6 to pace all NJCAA participants and was fifth overall out of 136 runners. His efforts also helped Daytona State claim first place in the team standings, ahead of the likes of Miami, Stetston, FAU and Florida Gulf Coast.
