TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 12, 2022) - Tallahassee's first time hosting the NJCAA Cross Country Championships delivered a little bit of everything - remnants of once-Hurricane Nicole greeted teams as they arrived on Thursday. By race time on Saturday, above-average temperatures and a Florida staple, humidity, grabbed the headlines.

In the Division II 8K race, Daytona State College and Lake-Sumter State College were in a neck-and-neck battle all the way to the finish line. Ultimately, the Falcons' 236 points was one point better than the Lakehawks' 237.

Lake-Sumter State's Caleb Melendez (20th, 26:51.9) was the top Region 8 runner, finishing one spot in front of Daytona State's Jared Falchook (26:53.2). Falchook's teammate Sebastian Hernandez, the FCSAA Individual Champion, finished 23rd (26:59.9), one spot in front of Lake-Sumter State's Cooper Krug (26:57.0).

Pasco-Hernando State College, who was running in its first-ever men's championship 8K, placed 11th (326 points) while Florida State College at Jacksonville (415 points) was 14th.

In the Division I race, Eastern Florida State College finished 15th while Seminole State College was 26th.

Individually, the Titans' Dayton Law, the Region 8 Individual Champion, placed 36th with a time of 26:22.8 while the Raiders were paced by Sam Henery (28:19.1).

Paradise Valley (Ariz.) Community College won the Division II Championship while Colby (Kan.) Community College dominated the DI Championship Race.
