MIAMI, Fla. - Eastern Florida State College captured the NJCAA Region 8 DI Men's Soccer Championship on Sunday evening, defeating top-seed Miami Dade College, 4-2.

Both teams will move on to next weekend's Southeast District Tournament at Eastern Florida State College, where the Titans will have the No. 1 seed in the four-team event. Miami Dade will be the No. 3 seed, which means the two teams could meet in Saturday's championship match with a berth to the National Tournament on the line.

That scenario was secondary to what took place on Sunday night.

Miami Dade, who revived the sport for the 2024 season, brought a No. 5 national ranking into the match against the No. 8 Titans, who earned their way to Sunday's final with a grueling 2-1 win at Daytona State College on Friday evening.

The Sharks got on the board right before halftime as Edoardo Duchini scored in the 43rd minute, and Miami Dade took the 1-0 lead to the intermission.

The second half was all Eastern Florida State as the Titans scored four goals after the intermission.

Luc Achermann-Stanfield found the net twice in just under four minutes, the second coming in the 60th minute on a penalty kick, to put Eastern Florida State in front, 2-1.

Lars Bekman made it 3-1, scoring what proved to be the game-winner in the 69th minute.

Miami Dade made things interesting when Facundo Ochoa scored in the 84th minute to cut Eastern Florida State's lead to one (3-2), but the Titans added some insurance in the final minute when Daiki Okada scored unassisted.
