EFSC men's golf team places second at Southeast District Championship

UNION GROVE, Ala. - The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team placed second in the NJCAA Division I Southeast District Championship on Tuesday.

The second-place finish earns them an automatic bid into the NJCAA Division I National Tournament for the 23rd straight season. The national tournament will begin on May 14 in Hobbs, New Mexico.

The Titans shot a 303 in the final round to move back into second place, finishing behind Central Alabama who won the district title.

Jefferson State was third and Calhoun College was fourth.

Sophomore Adam Vermut shot a 71 in the final round to finish in a four-way tie for the individual medalist. Vermut finished the three-day tournament with a 219.

Teammate Bryan Hernandez finished tied for 11th overall with a 79 in the final round and finished with a 227. Hugo Griesheimer tied for 24th overall with Nick Miller shooting a 75 to move up into a tie for 27th. Masen McKain shot his best round of the tournament, a 78 to finish in 39th overall.

Vermut and Miller were named to the all-district team for the Southeast District after the round.
