
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The NJCAA announced its Weekly Awards on Wednesday and Eastern Florida State College's Fredy-Salam Sylla was named the Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
Sylla, a freshman forward from Paris, France, averaged 17.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.7 steals and 0.3 blocks in three games. He shot 44.1 percent (15-of-34) from the field and 80.0 percent (20-of-25) from the line.
Sylla recorded a double-double in all three games at the Battle for the Boot Tournament, where he was named to the All-Tournament Team and helped the Titans to a runner-up finish.
The last two games at the event came against nationally-ranked opponents - he had 22 points and 11 rebounds in a 77-75 win vs. No. 12 Southern Idaho then 19 points and 11 rebounds vs. No. 1 South Plains.
On Tuesday, Sylla was named FCSAA Division I Player Player of the Week.
