OCALA-The College of Central Florida men's basketball team saw its season come to an end in an 89-82 loss at the hands of St. Petersburg College.

The Patriots (23-9) led by 17 in the first half, but saw the Titans battle back to take the lead at halftime.

From there, the back-and-forth contest saw SPC take the lead for good on a free throw by Dondre Duffus with 6:22 left.

The Titans (25-5) led by as many as 11 after that, but saw the Patriots get to within five with 2:23 remaining. SPC then made 6-of-8 free throws down the stretch to hold off CF.

For the game, the Titans made 35-of-47 free throws.

With the win, SPC advances to the tournament semifinals and will play Eastern Florida on Friday evening at 6 p.m.

The win was the first in 11 meetings for the Titans over the Patriots.

SPC was 0-2 this season against CF and averaged 66 points in the two defeats, but managed to turn things around this time.

Dyllon Hudson (21 points, 11-of-13 free throws), Duffus (19 points, five rebounds), Prince Foster (15 points, eight rebounds), Justin Satchell (13 points, six rebounds) and Devontae Pratt (11 points, seven rebounds, four assists) led the way for the Titans.

CF was led by Terrell Rogers, who scored 28 points and grabbed five rebounds.

The Patriots, who made 20-of-22 free throws in the loss, got 16 points from Diamante Lewis and 14 points from Brandon Tabb.

Allen Costley scored all 11 of his points in the second half for CF and also finished with eight rebounds.

For the game, the Patriots made 27-of-70 shots and turned the ball over 19 times.

SPC scored 29 points off CF miscues.

It looked like it wouldn't matter early, as Tabb's four-point play with 9:58 left in the first half gave the Patriots a 25-8 lead.

The Titans, though, began to chip away and finished the first half at 17-of-23 from the foul line.
