CF Patriots upend Falcons on the road

DAYTONA BEACH- The College of Central Florida men's basketball team made a huge statement in moving into a first place tie in the Mid-Florida Conference.

The Patriots (19-7, 4-1) avenged their only conference loss of the season with a 95-74 road win over defending conference champion Daytona State on Wednesday night.

CF made 35-of-58 shots (60.3 percent) overall and 10-of-22 from 3-point range in routing the Falcons.

In the win, the Patriots also made 15-of-19 from the free throw line. On defense, CF held DSC to 41 percent shooting.

The Patriots built a 50-35 halftime edge and won for the first time in Daytona in two years and snapped a two-game losing streak in Volusia County.

CF was led by Terrell Rogers (18 points), Brandon Tabb (17 points, 4-of-10 from 3-point range), Diamante Lewis (16 points, 7-of-9 shooting), Devaughn Jenkins (11 points), Barrington Alston (10 points, four rebounds) and Allen Costley (10 points, three rebounds).

Next up for the Patriots is a home game on Saturday night against FSC-Jacksonville at 7:30 p.m.
