ENID, Okla. - Pasco-Hernando State College hit two grand slams in the seventh inning to soar past Pearl River (Miss.) Community College and win the NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series.
The Bobcats went a perfect 4-0 in Enid to win their first baseball National Championship and first in any sport since capturing the NJCAA DII Volleyball National Championship in 2010.
Pearl River scored the first run of the game in the top of the third, only to watch Pasco-Hernando answer with three runs in the bottom half. The game remained 3-1 into the seventh when the Wildcats plated three runs to grab a 4-3 lead. They added three more in the seventh to knock out Pasco-Hernando starting pitcher Michael Savarese and increase their lead to 7-3.
The Bobcats had an answer and needed just two swings of the bat to seize the lead.
With the bases full, Grant Jordan smacked a grand slam to tie the game at 7-all. Later in the inning, Pasco-Hernando loaded the bases again; this time, it was Bradon Durfee who cleared the bases with the inning's second grand slam to give the Bobcats an 11-7 advantage.
Holden Wade recorded the final seven outs to earn the win. He retired all seven batters he faced.
Durfee finished 3-for-4 with six RBI and was named the Player of the Tournament and the Offensive Player of the Tournament.
Jordan, Fano Cruz, Bryce Habuda and Gavin Zassenbraker were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Pasco-Hernando's Lyndon Coleman was named Coach of the Tournament.
