New Port Richey, Fla - The RV SCF baseball team (7-4) continued their winning streak as they defeated Pasco Hernando State (8-4) 11-7. This is their first sweep against a non-conference opponent.
"It was a nice win over Pasco Hernando," said head coach Tim Hill II. "While we had a few too many walks from our pitching, we played good defense and swung the bats well while remaining in control of the game the entire way."
Hill sent sophomore Gavyn Bowen to start on the mound, while Pasco Hernando head coach Lydon Coleman went with redshirt sophomore Logan Waldschmidt to counter.
The Manatees would open on the board first at the top of the first. After a leadoff walk by freshman Mattie Counts, Vanecek would hit a double before Ryan loaded the bases after being hit by a pitch. Boykin would then send a single to left and bring in Counts and Ryan for a 9-3 lead.
The Bobcats would then score in the bottom of the fifth after an RBI single by sophomore Fano Cruz, but Manatees would respond at the top of the seventh as Vanecek would provide power with a two-run homer to right-center for his first of the season to give the Manatees an 11-4 lead.
