Former FSW star earns Brewers' Minor League Pitcher of the Year honors for second straight season

MILWAUKEE, Wis.- For the second straight year, former Florida SouthWestern ace Carlos Rodriguez has been named the Milwaukee Brewers Minor League Pitcher of the Year, making him the first player in organizational history to earn the award in back to back seasons.

Rodriguez had another huge year in the Brew Crew's system, starting his year in AA Biloxi and finishing in AAA Nashville.  Across the two levels Rodriguez was 9-6 with a sparkling 2.88 ERA.  He made 26 starts, logging 128 1/3 innings and racking up 158 strikeouts while posting a 1.12 WHIP.  He led all Brewers Minor League hurlers limiting opponents to just a .187 batting average while ranking in the top five in Wins, ERA, Strikeouts, WHIP, and Innings Pitched.

In his only season with the Bucs in 2021 Rodriguez was 7-2 with a 2.11 ERA, earning  1st Team All-Suncoast Conference honors while leading FSW to a Conference Championship. He threw 47 innings over 10 starts, striking out 62 and walking just 12 before becoming the Bucs highest draft pick in program history when Milwaukee took him in the 6th round in the July Major League Baseball Draft.

Unsurprisingly, Rodriguez shot up the Brewers' prospects charts this season where he currently sits as Milwaukee's sixth best prospect in a system that is widely considered one of the top in all of Minor League Baseball.  MLB Pipeline has Rodriguez, who will turn 22 this offseason, breaking into the Big Leagues as soon as the 2024 season. If that happens, Rodriguez would be the first former FSW player to make his Major League debut.
