LAKELAND, Fla. (May 15, 2019) - Chipola College became the first school in more than a half century to win a third straight FCSAA State Baseball Championship, defeating Northwest Florida State College, 14-6, on Wednesday.

The only other school to win three straight state championships is State College of Florida (then known as Manatee Junior College), who won the first four state titles in 1960-63.

The Indians, already the two-time defending national champions, will look for a three-peat in Grand Junction, Colo., when the JUCO World Series begins Saturday, May 25.

Chipola was stretched to the "if" game following the Raiders' 10-7 win earlier on Wednesday. After Chipola broke a 6-all tie in the top of the ninth, the Raiders rallied in their final at-bat. A wild pitch scored the tying run then Justice Thompson blasted a three-run homer over the left field wall for the walk-off victory.

In the winner-take-all finale, Chipola erased a 3-2 deficit with six runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth to all but put the game away.

Andrew Moore pitched 1.2 innings in relief for his third win of the tournament and was named the tournament's most outstanding pitcher. Tournament MVP Connor Kehl was 3-for-6.
