HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Different location, but same result for the Palm Beach State College Panthers, who won a second straight NJCAA Beach Volleyball Championship on Saturday.
A year ago, the Panthers claimed the title in Tavares, Fla. This year's event headed north to Huntsville, Ala., but that didn't slow down the Panthers, who swept their way to the title, winning all six matches without dropping a point.
On the final day of play, Palm Beach State faced FCSAA rival Lake-Sumter State College in the semifinals. A 3-0 win moved the Panthers into the Championship match against Richard Bland (Va.) College.
Earlier in the day, Richard Bland knocked off State Colllege of Florida, ending the Manatees' bid for a championship and preventing an All-Florida final.
Palm Beach State picked up straight-set wins at the #1 and #3 pairs and solidified the championship with #2 pair Marilyn Cesaro and Sophia Soderberg won its third set, 15-11.
Meanwhile, the third-place match was an All-Florida affair with State College of Florida knocking off Lake-Sumter State, 3-2.
The Panthers' #1 pair of Anna Paula Fallas Cruz and Zuzanna Michalska were named the 2024 NJCAA Beach Volleyball Pair of the Tournament while head coach Drew Colvin was named Coach of the Tournament.
