BRADENTON, Fla. - Palm Beach State College won its second straight FCSAA Beach Volleyball Championship, defeating Lake-Sumter State College, 3-0, in the final match at the UMR Sports Complex.

The Panthers swept their way to the title with wins over St. Johns River State College (5-0), State College of Florida (3-2) and Lake-Sumter State. The Lakehawks lost their first match of the tournament, falling to State College of Florida, 3-2, before knocking off St. Johns River State (3-1) and eliminating SCF in a rematch (3-1) to advance to the final.

Palm Beach State, the tournament's top seed, was pushed to the limit in its winner's bracket final vs. SCF.

The Manatees jumped out to a 2-0 lead with wins in Pair #2 and #4. In Pair #2, Addison Beaver and Aleksandra Wrobel defeated Marilyn Cesaro and Sophia Soderberg, 21-12 and 24-22 while Isabella Rebimbas and Bailee Perry knocked off Giovana Bock and Ava Bownman, 21-10 and 21-12.

Palm Beach State rallied with wins at the #1 and #5 pair to even the match and leaving the #3s to decide it. After splitting the first two sets, the Panthers' Patrycja Kabala and Aleksandra Hamuda outlasted SCF's Teresa Briefeneder and Amanda Pizzol, 15-10, in set three to win the match.

In the tournament's penultimate match, Lake-Sumter State flipped the script on SCF.

A three-set win at the #4 pair evened the match at 1-all and gave the Lakehawks momentum heading into the second rotation of pairs, where they claimed wins at #3 and #5.

Palm Beach State's Drew Colvin was recognized as the FCSAA Coach of the Year.

By virtue of advancing to the championship match, both Palm Beach State and Lake-Sumter State earned automatic bids to the NJCAA Beach Volleyball Championship in Huntsville, Ala., May 2-4. State College of Florida and Florida State College at Jacksonville received at-large bids into the nine-team field.
