DALLAS, Texas (June 13, 2016) - Former Seminole State College softball star Stephanie Adkins was recognized as the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators' (NATYCAA) 2016 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The announcement was made during NATYCAA's annual convention in Dallas, Texas, June 11-14.

Adkins, a native of Orlando, Fla., played at Seminole State in 2014 and 2015 and led the Raiders to a 51-9 record and No. 4 NJCAA ranking as a sophomore. During the 2015 season, she posted an ERA of 1.18 while holding opponents to a .183 batting average. Her 25 wins included a pair of no-hitters and 10 shutouts.
Adkins led Region VIII in strikeouts (243) and saves (8), was third in wins and fourth in ERA. Nationally, she was first in saves, fourth in strikeouts, ninth in ERA and 12th in wins.
She also batted .364 with 19 RBIs.
Adkins was a two-time first-team all-Mid-Florida Conference and first-team FCSAA All-State selection. In 2015, she was the Mid-Florida Conference Player of the Year, FCSAA Female Athlete of the Year, NFCA First-team All-South Region and NFCA Third-team All-America.
She was also a two-time NJCAA Region 8 Pitcher of the Year and NJCAA Division I Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Academically, Adkins was a two-time Mid-Florida Conference and FCSAA All-Academic selection and was twice named an NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete.
She also received the FCSAA's prestigious Jean Williams Scholar-Athlete Award in 2015, presented annually the Region 8 top softball scholar-athlete, and was the recipient of Seminole State College's Foundation's Mac Blythe Outstanding Scholar-Athlete Award.
Following her sophomore season, Adkins received the NJCAA's Pinnacle Award for Excellence.

"As an athletics director, you recognize that Stephanie is one of those outstanding individuals that does not come along that often. Not only did she excel on the field and in the classroom, but she is also a great person. When you meet her and talk with her, you think to yourself, 'this is one special young lady.' I am sure there will be many other accolades in her future.”
After graduating from Seminole State, Adkins transferred to Saint Leo University, where she just completed her junior season with the Lions and posted a record of 18-4, 0.99 ERA and 164 strikeouts in just 141.2 innings pitched.
She was named to the 2016 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player of the Year Top-25 finalist list.
