NJCAA Region 8 Basketball Notebook: February 16

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 16, 2016) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its NJCAA Region 8 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Polls for February 16 and Player of the Week selections for the week ending February 14.

The next poll and Player of the Week selections will be released February 23.

NJCAA Region 8 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Jared Wilson-Frame, Northwest Florida State
Freshman – Guard
Hartford, Conn. 

  • Averaged 26.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals in two games during the voting period
  • Shot 61.3 percent (19-of-31) from the field, 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from the three-point line and 70.0 percent (7-of-10) from the free throw line
  • Helping the Raiders to a split of two Panhandle Conference games, Wilson-Frame scored 22 points at Pensacola State then recorded a double-double at home in a win over Gulf Coast State to clinch a postseason berth
  • In the win over Gulf Coast State, he set career-highs with 31 points and 11 rebounds in addition to dishing out six assists

Riverdale, Ga. 

  • Averaged 24.0 points, 16.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 block in two games during the voting period
  • Shot 67.9 percent (19-of-28) from the field and 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the free throw line
  • Led Palm Beach State to a 2-0 week with SoCon wins over Indian River State (70-62) and St. Petersburg (66-58)
  • Recorded back-to-back double-doubles – 27 points and 16 rebounds vs. Indian River State and 21 points and 16 rebounds vs. St. Petersburg
