TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (October 7, 2014) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its Volleyball Coaches’ Poll and Player of the Week recipients for October 7.
The next poll will be released October 14.

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Player of the Week

State College of Florida’s Maja Ristic is this week's NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Player of the Week. Ristic, a sophomore from Brcko, Bosnia, averaged 4.7 kills, 0.1 assists, 0.3 aces, 3.2 digs and 0.3 blocks over 20 sets and six matches during the voting period. Behind the play of Ristic, the Manatees won all six matches last week, including 3-0 wins against nationally-ranked Daytona State and Miami Dade on October 3 in which she totaled 33 kills and 27 digs. The day before against Polk State, she had 27 kills and 13 digs and finished the week with a total of 21 kills and 17 digs.
NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the
Week

Florida State College at Jacksonville’s Sharon Ayala is this week's NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. Ayala, a freshman from Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, averaged 5.6 digs over 18 sets and five matches during the voting period. To start the week, she led the Blue Wave to a pair of victories against nationally-ranked Mid-Florida Conference opponents. Ayala recorded 21 digs against in the Blue Wave’s first-ever win against No. 8 Central Florida (September 30) then added 25 against No. 9 Daytona State (October 2). Later in the week, she posted 27 digs against Polk State for her state-leading eighth entry into the 25-Dig Club.
