TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 3, 2015) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its final Men’s and Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Polls and Player of the Week selections for the 2014-15 season.

The NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA State Basketball Tournament will take place in Ocala, Fla., Wednesday-Saturday, March 4-7.

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Chauncey Day, Hillsborough
Freshman – Guard
Tampa, Fla.

Hillsborough Community College’s Chauncey Day is this week's NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Day, a freshman from Tampa, Fla., tallied 23 points, nine rebounds, one steal and two blocks in his only game during the voting period. He led Hillsborough to a 65-59 win at Polk State on February 23 to give the Hawks the Suncoast Conference Tournament Championship and a berth in the NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA State Tournament. Day shot 10-of-17 from the floor, 2-of-4 from the three-point line and 1-of-3 from the free throw line.

  • Terrell Rogers, Central Florida – 17 points and six assists in his only game of the week vs. Santa Fe

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Crystal Townsend, Eastern Florida State
Freshman – Guard/Forward
Cape Coral, Fla.

Eastern Florida State College’s Crystal Townsend is this week's NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Townsend, a freshman from Cape Coral, Fla., recorded 25 points, 12 rebounds and one assist in her only game during the voting period. She helped Eastern Florida State finish off a Southern Conference Championship season with a 64-49 win over Palm Beach State on February 23. In the victory, Townsend knocked down 8-of-12 shots from the field and 9-of-13 from the free throw line.

Player of the Week Honorable Mention

  • Destiny Alston, Daytona State – 21 points, four rebounds and five assists in her only game of the week vs. Central Florida
  • Nachalie DeJesus, Miami Dade – 17 points and 15 rebounds in her only game of the week vs. Indian River State
  • Chelsey Gibson, Gulf Coast State – 25 points and eight rebounds in her only game of the week vs. Tallahassee
  • Naje Gibson, Florida State College at Jacksonville – 24 points and 11 rebounds in her only game of the week vs. Hillsborough
  • Eboni Watts, Tallahassee – 18 points and nine rebounds in her only game of the week vs. Gulf Coast State
  • Camary Williams, Hillsborough – 27 points and 12 rebounds in her only game of the week vs. Florida State College at Jacksonville
