TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 3, 2015) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its Men’s and Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Polls and Player of the Week selections for February 3. 

The next poll will be released Tuesday, February 10.

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Javian Delacruz, Broward

Broward College’s Javian Delacruz is this week's NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Delacruz, a freshman from Brooklyn, N.Y., averaged 23.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists in two games during the voting period. Cruz recorded a double-double (22 points, 10 rebounds) against Miami Dade on January 28 then added 25 points, seven rebounds and eight assists against Indian River State three days later. For the week, Delacruz shot 59.3 percent (16-of-27) from the floor, 50.0 percent (3-of-6) from the three-point line and 75.0 percent (12-of-16) from the free throw line. 

Player of the Week Honorable Mention

• Daemon Ashley, Pasco-Hernando State – averaged 21.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in three games
• Quavius Copeland, Gulf Coast State – 19.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in two games
• Payton Hulsey, Eastern Florida State – averaged 13.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists in two games
• Kendrick Thompson, Daytona State – 12 points and 10 rebounds in his only game of the week vs. Florida State College at Jacksonville

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Chelsey Gibson, Gulf Coast State
Sophomore – Forward
Pensacola, Fla.

Gulf Coast State College’s Chelsey Gibson is this week's NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Gibson, a sophomore from Pensacola, Fla., averaged 27.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 blocks in two games during the voting period. She helped Gulf Coast State to wins over nationally-ranked Tallahassee and Pensacola State with back-to-back double-doubles. Gibson contributed 27 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Tallahassee on January 28 then posted 28 points and 11 boards three days later against the Pirates. For the week, she shot 52.2 percent (24-of-46) from the floor and 77.8 percent (7-of-9) from the free throw line.

Player of the Week Honorable Mention

• Evelyn Akhator, Chipola – 20 points and 20 rebounds in her only game of the week vs. Northwest Florida State
• Jackie Blake, Miami Dade – averaged 23.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in two games
• Brittney Chambers, Daytona State – averaged 20.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 7.0 steals in two games
• Erin Graham, Indian River State – averaged 14.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in two games
