TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida College System Activities Association has announced its Weekly Awards in Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Women's Tennis and Women's Golf.

FCSAA Weekly Awards

Congratulations to the following student-athletes who received recognition for their outstanding performance in athletic competition:

  • FCSAA DI Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Chol Machot, Florida SouthWestern
  • FCSAA DII Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Alex McCray, Florida State College at Jacksonville
  • FCSAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Mekhia Chase, Northwest Florida State
  • FCSAA DI Baseball Player of the Week: Jake Weatherspoon, Indian River State

  • Men's Basketball
    • DI rankings: (10) Daytona State, (11) Chipola, (16) Gulf Coast State, (19) Pensacola State
      • The FCSAA DI Men's Basketball Championship bracket will be released Friday morning.
    • DII rankings: (10) Florida State College at Jacksonville
  • Women's Basketball
    • DI rankings: (1) Northwest Florida State, (4) Chipola, (12) Florida SouthWestern, (13) Gulf Coast State, (RV) Eastern Florida State
      • The FCSAA DI Women's Basketball Championship bracket will be released Friday morning.
    • DII: FSCJ knocked off Palm Beach State, 85-81 in double overtime in the regular season finale for both teams, but it's the Panthers who will move on to Saturday's Gulf South District Championship Game in Tallahassee, Fla., against Chattahoochee Valley. 
  • Baseball
    • DI rankings: (3) Northwest Florida State, (7) Central Florida, (11) Florida SouthWestern, (13) Indian River State, (14) Gulf Coast State, (RV) Chipola
  • Softball
    • DI rankings: (1) Florida SouthWestern, (2) Northwest Florida State, (3) Indian River State, (7) Miami Dade, (9) Seminole State, (13) Daytona State, (18) Eastern Florida State, (23) Chipola, (24) Central Florida, (RV) Gulf Coast State, (RV) Santa Fe
    • DII rankings: (3) St. Johns River State, (22) Lake-Sumter State
  • Women's Flag Football: In a battle of teams playing their inaugural reason season game, Daytona State topped Pasco-Hernando State, 27-0. Florida Gateway opened its season with a pair of 52-0 wins over Pasco-Hernando State and Point University. 
  • Men's Tennis: Eastern Florida State, who is ranked No. 2 in the ITA Junior College rankings, defeated Howard University, 8-1, on Sunday. 
  • Women's Tennis: St. Petersburg opened its season with a trip to Texas and came away with two wins in three matches, including a decisive 8-1 win vs. traditional power Tyler. Hillsborough remained unbeaten on the spring with a 5-2 win at Southeastern University and Eastern Florida State split a pair of weekend matches, beating USC Sumter (9-0) before falling to Howard University (7-0).
  • Women's Golf: Eastern Florida State placed third at the Kinderlou Forest Spring Invite, due in large part to the performance of Mila Tang, who won the individual championship. At the Babs Steffens Invitational, hosted by Stetson, Seminole State placed ninth and Palm Beach State, 13th. 
  • Men's Golf: Eastern Florida State is ranked 10th in the Bushnell/Golfweek NJCAA DI Coaches Poll, released on Friday and coming on the heels of a third-place finish at the Coastal Alabama North Spring Invitational.
  • Beach Volleyball: In the only FCSAA matchup of the week, State College of Florida outlasted Lake-Sumter State, 3-2.
  • Swimming & Diving: Indian River State and the College of the Florida Keys are off to Buffalo, N.Y., for the NJCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, which take place Wednesday through Saturday. Indian River will be gunning for its 51st straight men's national championship while the women are chasing the title for the 43rd straight year.
