FCSAA announces finalists for Athletics' annual awards

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has announced the finalists for its annual athletics awards, recognizing excellence in the classroom and competition during the 2024-25 academic year.

Nominees for Male and Female Athletes of the Year are comprised of all FCSAA Player of the Year honorees, as well as individuals submitted from other sports sanctioned by the FCSAA (men's golf, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's track & field), provided the nominee was named NJCAA All-America during the 2024-25 season.  

Likewise, 11 different Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipients, which were announced June 27, are in the running for Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, along with nominees from all other FCSAA sports. Nominees must have accumulated 48 credit hours with a minimum 3.30 GPA and have completed at least three full-time terms, including at least one at a FCSAA institution. Citizenship, community service and athletic prowess may also be taken into consideration.  

Male and Female Academic Teams of the Year - for small (10 or fewer participants) and large (11+ participants) rosters will also be selected.  

All award winners will be announced July 3.

Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year   

  • Maddox Brown, Daytona State, soccer - achieved a 3.98 GPA, earning his associate's degree and graduating with High Honors in May 2025; on the field, he helped the Falcons to a No. 16 final ranking in 2024; volunteered with local youth clubs in Volusia County
  • Kito Campbell, Indian River State, swimming & diving - graduated Summa Cum Laude in April 2025, achieving a 3.86 GPA; member of The River's National Championship teams in both 2024 and 2025; this season, he was a four-time national champion (two individual, two relay) and four-time NJCAA All-American (two individual, two relay)
