TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and announced its Weekly Awards.


April 8, 2024, Coaches' Polls

Region 8 Weekly Awards (for games April 1-7)

  • DI Baseball Player of the Week: Justin Thomas, Florida SouthWestern
  • DI Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Sam Strek, Northwest Florida State
  • DI Softball Player of the Week: Sister Arnold, Northwest Florida State
  • DI Softball Pitcher of the Week: J'dah Girigorie, Indian River State
  • DII Baseball Player of the Week: Payton Boines, Palm Beach State
  • DII Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Chase Grube, Palm Beach State
  • DII Softball Player of the Week: Kaleigh Thomas, Lake-Sumter State
  • DII Softball Pitcher of the Week: Alyssa Vallad, St. Johns River State
  • Women's Tennis Player of the Week: Isabela Mercante, St. Petersburg
  • Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week: Ana Paula Fallas Cruz/Zuzanna Michalska, Palm Beach State

Spring Sports Updates

  • Baseball
    • Division I: The NJCAA DI Poll saw some major shakeups, with Northwest Florida State College soaring eight spots to No. 12. Florida SouthWestern State College moved up two spots to No. 16 while Chipola College entered the poll at No. 20. Gulf Coast State College fell 12 spots to No. 17 and Pensacola State College dropped out of the poll altogether. Indian River State College received votes.  
    • Division II: In the NJCAA DII Poll, St. Johns River State College is No. 14 and Lake-Sumter State College, No. 18. Pasco-Hernando State College received votes. 
  • Softball
    • Division I: Same three teams but a different order at Nos. 2-4 in the NJCAA DI Poll. Northwest Florida State is still No. 2 but Indian River State moved to No. 3, one spot ahead of No. 4 Florida SouthWestern. The College of Central Florida moved back into the top ten at No. 8 while Gulf Coast State and Santa Fe College remained Nos. 12 and 14, respectively.   
    • Division II: St. Johns River State remained No. 13 in the NJCAA DII Poll.
  • Women's Flag Football: Florida Gateway College ran its winning streak to eight straight with wins over Point University (35-12) and Fort Lauderdale (41-0). 
  • Men's Tennis: Eastern Florida State improved to 7-2 on the season with a 9-0 win over Millenia University.
  • Women's Tennis: Eastern Florida State outlasted St. Petersburg in a thrilling 5-4 win in Region 8 play; Hillsborough Community College beat St. Petersburg, 6-3, to remain unbeaten in Region 8 competition.
  • Women's Golf: Seminole State is wrapping up regular season play at the Brickyard Collegiate, hosted by Mercer University; Eastern Florida State is in action at the Roadrunner Invitational.
  • Beach Volleyball: The bracket has been released for the 2024 FCSAA Beach Volleyball Championship, which will be played April 18-20 in Bradenton, Fla.
