TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (September 20, 2022) - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and announced its Player of the Week Awards in Volleyball and Cross Country.
September 19, 2022 Coaches' Polls
Region 8 Players of the Week Awards (for all events/matches September 12-18)
Congratulations to the following student-athletes who received Player of the Week recognition:
- Region 8 DI Volleyball Player of the Week: Emma Kiser, Eastern Florida State
- Region 8 DI Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week: Kiaraliz Perez, Miami Dade
- Region 8 DI Volleyball Setter of the Week: Juliana De Acharan, Eastern Florida State
- Region 8 DII Volleyball Player of the Week: Lana Sandanom, State College of Florida
- Region 8 DII Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week: Alyssa Guarino, Lake-Sumter State
- Region 8 DII Volleyball Setter of the Week: Kendall Steinert, State College of Florida
- Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week: Caleb Melendez, Lake-Sumter State
- Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week: Shannon Jones, Daytona State
All Player of the Week honorees will be considered for NJCAA Player of the Week honors, which will be announced Wednesday.

Fall Sports Updates
- Men's Soccer: Eastern Florida State College beat Daytona State College, 3-1, to claim game one of the teams' three-game regular season series. The Titans need just one win in the final two meetings to claim the Region 8 Championship. The next meeting takes place at Daytona State on October 22. The win propelled Eastern Florida State up three spots to No. 17 in the NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer Poll while Daytona State held at No. 4.
- Women's Soccer: Eastern Florida State remains No. 1 in the NJCAA Division I Women's Soccer Poll while Daytona State inched up two spots to No. 13.
- Volleyball: Florida SouthWestern, still unbeaten, is again the No. 1 team in the NJCAA Division I Volleyball Poll. Behind a pair of wins over nationally-ranked opponents, Miami Dade College moved up one spot to No. 5. Hillsborough Community College is ranked No. 14 while Daytona State is No. 18. In the Division II poll, unbeaten Gulf Coast State College rose to No. 11 while Pensacola State College entered the poll at No. 16. St. Johns River State College fell out of the poll, despite stepping out of state to play four matches in Texas, including three against DI opponents and two nationally-ranked foes.
