TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 22, 2022) - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and announced its Player of the Week Awards in Men's and Women's Basketball.

Region 8 Player of the Week Awards (for events November 14-20)
Congratulations to the following student-athletes who received Player of the Week recognition:
- Region 8 Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Jayshayne Woodard, Indian River State
- Region 8 Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Rapuluchi Ngorka, Indian River State
All Player of the Week honorees will be considered for NJCAA Player of the Week honors, which will be announced Wednesday.

Sports Updates
- Half Marathon: Several Region 8 teams participated in the NJCAA Half Marathon on November 15 in Tallahassee. Among the top finishers was Daytona State College's Shannon Jones who placed fourth in the women's race to earn All-America honors.
- Volleyball: Florida SouthWestern State College won its first National Championship in volleyball, knocking off Region 8 rival Miami Dade College, 3-1, in the Division I final.
- Women's Soccer: Eastern Florida State College's pursuit of a repeat National Championship ended in the national semifinals, where it fell to Iowa Western Community College, 4-2.
- Men's Soccer: Daytona State lost to Cowley (Kan.) County Community College, 5-1, to finish pool play with a 1-1 record at the NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championships.
