Sixty-five teams, 556 student-athletes earn NJCAA All-Academic honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The NJCAA has announced its 2022-23 All-Academic Teams and Academic Teams of the Year, recognizing student-athletes across the country for their dedication in the classroom.

This year, a total of 10,267 student-athletes were honored for achieving a GPA of 3.60 or above. The criteria for the three All-Academic teams are:

  • NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
  • NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
  • NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA

Region 8 produced 556 All-Academic honorees, 24 more recipients than a year ago, including 132 on the First-team for having achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA. Second-team honorees totaled 175 and 249 earned Third-team recognition.

The NJCAA also recognizes teams who earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and, this season, 1,078 teams hit the mark.

Palm Beach State College, the 2023 FCSAA and NJCAA Beach Volleyball Champions, matched its performance on the sand with a championship effort in the classroom, earning top team academic honors for the sport with a 3.68 GPA.

In total, 65 teams from Region 8 were recognized as Academic Teams of the Year, 19 more than a year ago:

  • Men's Basketball – Hillsborough (3.29), Indian River State (3.16), Pensacola State (3.15), State College of Florida (3.14), Santa Fe (3.11), Pasco-Hernando State (3.06)
  • Women's Basketball – Eastern Florida State (3.46), Florida SouthWestern (3.39), Palm Beach State (3.20), Florida State College at Jacksonville (3.07)
  • Men's Cross Country - Pasco-Hernando State (3.08), Daytona State (3.05)
  • Women's Cross Country – Florida Gateway (3.75), Florida State College at Jacksonville (3.54), Daytona State (3.07), Tallahassee (3.06), Pasco-Hernando State (3.01)
  • Men's Golf – Eastern Florida State (3.20)
  • Women's Golf – Daytona State (3.77), Seminole State (3.45), Eastern Florida State (3.35)
  • Women's Outdoor Track & Field – Tallahassee (3.20)
