TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 1, 2022) - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and Player of the Week selections for men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball.

Region 8 Player of the Week Awards (for games February 21-27)

Congratulations to the following student-athletes who received Player of the Week recognition:

• Region 8 Men's Basketball Player of the Week: A.J. Cajuste, Indian River State
• Region 8 Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Tanyia Gordon, Daytona State
• Region 8 Baseball Player of the Week: Hunter Fitz-Gerald, Florida SouthWestern
• Region 8 Baseball Pitcher of the Week: Logan Adams, South Florida State
• Region 8 Softball Player of the Week: Sydney Stewart, Northwest Florida State
• Region 8 Softball Pitcher of the Week: Mandy Hedetniemi-Taylor, Eastern Florida State 

All Player of the Week honorees will be considered for NJCAA Player of the Week honors, which will be announced Wednesday.

Winter Sports Championships Update

• Indian River State College will host the NJCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, March 2-5. The Pioneers have won 47 straight men's championships and 40 straight women's championships!
• Florida Gateway College defeated Pasco-Hernando State College, 84-67, to win the NJCAA Region 8 Division II Men's Basketball Championship. The Timberwolves (15-9) will now play in Saturday's South Atlantic District B Championship Game against Fayetteville Tec. The winner will advance to the NJCAA Division II tournament in Danville, Ill.
• The Division I FCSAA State/NJCAA District Tournament will take place Wednesday through Saturday at Northwest Florida State College. For complete tournament information, visit NWFRaiders.com.
