TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 22, 2022) - The Florida College System Activities Association has released its weekly coaches' polls and Player of the Week selections for men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball.

February 21, 2022 Coaches' Polls

Region 8 Player of the Week Awards (for games February 14-20)

Congratulations to the following student-athletes who received Player of the Week recognition:

  • Region 8 Men's Basketball Player of the Week: Hasan Abdul-Hakim, Santa Fe
  • Region 8 Women's Basketball Player of the Week: Malea Brown, Santa Fe
  • Region 8 Baseball Player of the Week: Adam Berry, Pasco-Hernando State
  • Region 8 Baseball Pitcher of the Week: K.C. Swords, Eastern Florida State
  • Region 8 Softball Player of the Week: Laura Vigna, Florida SouthWestern
  • Region 8 Softball Pitcher of the Week: Savannah Barnett, Central Florida

All Player of the Week honorees will be considered for NJCAA Player of the Week honors, which will be announced Wednesday.

Winter Sports Championships Update

  • Indian River State College will host the NJCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, March 2-5. The Pioneers have won 47 straight men's championships and 40 straight women's championships!
  • Florida Gateway College will host Pasco-Hernando State College for the NJCAA Region 8 Division II Men's Basketball Championship on Saturday, February 26. Tip-off is 2 p.m. The winner wil advance to the South Atlantic District B Championship Game on Saturday, March 5.
  • The FCSAA State/NJCAA South Atlantic District Division I Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament will take place March 2-5 at Northwest Florida State College. At-large selections and the tournament bracket will be released Thursday, February 24.
