Forty-six teams, 532 student-athletes earn NJCAA All-Academic honors

2021-22 NJCAA Region 8 All-Academic Honorees

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (July 14, 2022) - The NJCAA has announced its 2021-22 All-Academic Teams and Academic Teams of the Year, recognizing student-athletes across the country for their dedication in the classroom.

This year, a total of 9,912 student-athletes were honored for achieving a GPA of 3.60 or above. The criteria for the three All-Academic teams are:

  • NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
  • NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
  • NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA

Region 8 produced 532 All-Academic honorees, including 140 First-team, 165 Second-team and 227 Third-team.

The NJCAA also recognizes teams who earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and, this season, 1,061 teams hit the mark.

For the 11th consecutive year, and 15th time in 16 years, Daytona State College claimed top honors among NJCAA Baseball programs with a 3.78 cumulative GPA. Region 8 had one other team sit atop its sport academically, Indian River State College Men's Swimming & Diving (3.25 GPA), who previously took home a National Championship for its performance in the water.

In total, 46 teams from Region 8 were recognized as Academic Teams of the Year:

  • Baseball – Daytona State (3.78, Team of the Year), Pasco-Hernando State (3.24), Florida State College at Jacksonville (3.23), Tallahassee (3.17)
  • Men's Basketball – Eastern Florida State (3.25), State College of Florida (3.03)
  • Women's Basketball – Eastern Florida State (3.74), Palm Beach State (3.26), Santa Fe (3.09), Tallahassee (3.07), Florida SouthWestern (3.00)
  • Women's Cross Country – Pasco-Hernando State (3.38), Florida State College at Jacksonville (3.30), Tallahassee (3.30)
  • Men's Golf – Eastern Florida State (3.19)
  • Women's Golf – Seminole State (3.56), Daytona State (3.46), Eastern Florida State (3.39)
  • Women's Outdoor Track & Field – Tallahassee (3.24)
  • Men's Soccer – Daytona State (3.22)
  • Women's Soccer – Eastern Florida State (3.55), Daytona State (3.15)
  • Softball – Miami Dade (3.62), Seminole State (3.46), Pasco-Hernando State (3.43), Daytona State (3.39), Florida SouthWestern (3.30), State College of Florida (3.28), Indian River State (3.13), Tallahassee (3.12)
  • Men's Swimming & Diving – Indian River State (3.25, Team of the Year)
