Tallahassee's Printiss, Gulf Coast State's Goolsby honored by NJCAA

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (October 16, 2019) - Region 8 picked up two more weekly honors from the NJCAA on Wednesday.

Tallahassee Community College's Genevieve Printiss was named the NJCAA Female Runner of the Week while Gulf Coast State College's Anna Merrill Goolsby was named the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.

Printiss, a sophomore from Carrabelle, Fla., earned the honor after setting a school record in the 5K at last week's Florida State Cross Country Invitational. She crossed the finish line in 20:04.05, good for 99th overall but tops among two-year participants. 

She is the second Region 8 participant to earn the honor, joining Pasco-Hernando State College's Olivia D'Angelo. 

Meanwhile, Goolsby became the fifth Region 8 participant to nab a volleyball honor in 2019, joining Miami Dade College'sAnna Merrill Goolsby Yaniris Miller-Green, Polk State College's Suared Molina, St. Johns River State College's Jordyn Pruski and Hillsborough Community College's Isabel Martin. 

Goolsby, a freshman defensive specialist from Panama City Beach, Fla., averaged 6.0 digs over nine sets in three matches during the voting period. She led the Commodores to two wins in three matches, including a 3-0 win at St. Johns River State. 

Goolsby posted 17 digs in the win over the Vikings, as well as a straight-set win at Coastal Alabama Community College-South. She had 20 digs against Lake-Sumter State College.
