Napper, Smith lead Region 8 basketball All-Americans

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 8, 2020) - The NJCAA announced its 2019-20 basketball All-Americans on Monday and Tuesday and, as expected, Region 8 was well-represented.

The College of Central Florida's Walyn Napper and Gulf Coast State College's Ahlana Smith were the lone first-team men's and women's selections, respectively, from Region 8. Both players were previously named FCSAA State Player of the Year. 

Miami Dade College's Daliyah Brown and Florida SouthWestern State College's Za'Nautica Downs were women's second-team picks while Northwest Florida State College's Chanaya Pinto made the third-team. Pinto's teammate, Rayven Peeples, and Santa Fe College's Aleisha Curry were named Honorable Mention. 

Florida SouthWestern was also represented on the men's side with Keon Ellis earning second-team honors along with Tallahassee Community College's El Ellis. 

Indian River State College's Miles Coleman was named Honorable Mention.
