TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 12, 2019) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its NJCAA Region 8 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Player of the Week selections for games played March 4-10.

NJCAA Region 8 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Javion Hamlet, Northwest Florida State

Memphis, Tenn. 

• Averaged 23.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.3 steals in three games during the voting period
• Shot 23-of-49 (46.9 percent) from the field, 6-of-9 (66.7 percent) on three-pointers and 17-of-23 (73.9 percent) from the free throw line
• Led Northwest Florida State to the Region 8 Championship and was named the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player

NJCAA Region 8 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Lya Farcy, Gulf Coast State
Fr. - Guard
Paris, France

• Averaged 6.7 points, 2.0 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.0 steal in three games during the voting period
• Shot 8-of-16 (50.0 percent) from the floor, hit her only three-point attempt and was 3-of-4 from the free throw line
• Led Gulf Coast State to the Region 8 Championship and was named the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player
