NJCAA Region 8 Basketball Notebook: February 26

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 26, 2019) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its final NJCAA Region 8 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Polls for the 2018-19 season and Player of the Week selections for games played February 18-24.

NJCAA Region 8 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Malik Curry, Palm Beach State
Sophomore – Guard  
New Castle, Del. 

  • In his only game of the week vs. ASA Miami, he had 30 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block
  • Shot 75.0 percent (12-of-16) from the field and 75.0 percent (6-of-8) on threes to lead the Panthers to the 93-68 win

Michelle Pruitt, Miami Dade
Sophomore – Forward

  • In her lone game of the week against Broward, she posted 38 points and 21 rebounds, along with two assists and four steals, to helped Miami Dade past the Seahawks and to the Southern Conference Championship
  • Shot 15-of-28 (53.6 percent) from the floor and 8-of-12 (66.7 percent) from the free throw line
