Randa, Wisely, Woodham claim POTW honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (February 13, 2019) - The NJCAA announced its Player of the Week awards on Wednesday and again included three recipients from Region 8.

The Region 8 honorees included Northwest Florida State College's Jake Randa, the NJCAA Division I Baseball Player of the Week; Gulf Coast State College's Brett Wisely, the NJCAA Division I Baseball Pitcher of the Week; and Chipola College's Amy Woodham, the NJCAA Division I Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Randa, a sophomore first baseman from Prairie Village, Kan., batted .722 (13-for-18) with four runs scored, one home run and six RBIs in four games during the voting period. He hit safely in all four games, including a pair of 4-hit games vs. Miami Dade College.

Wisely, a sophomore right-hander from Jacksonville, Fla., was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in one appearance during the voting period. He pitched a three-hit shutout against Broward College in which he walked none and struck out 14.

Woodham, a sophomore right-hander from Slocumb, Ala., went 3-0 with a 1.17 ERA in four appearances during the voting period. She tossed a complete game and was the winning pitcher in the Indians’ 8-3 win over Salt Lake (Utah) Community College. She also recorded complete-game victories over Columbia (Tenn.) State Community College and Snead (Ala.) State Community College. Woodham totaled 18 innings in the circle, allowing 12 hits, three runs (all earned) and five walks while striking out 26.
