NJCAA Region 8 Baseball/Softball Notebook: March 6

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 6, 2018) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its NJCAA Region 8 Baseball and Softball Coaches’ Polls for March 6 and Player and Pitcher of the Week selections for games played February 26-March 4. 

The next poll and player of the week selections will be released March 13.

NJCAA Region 8 Baseball Player of the Week
Peter Baldrich, ASA Miami
Sophomore – CF
Hialeah, Fla. 

  • Batted .640 (16-for-25) with nine runs scored, two doubles, two triples, one home run, 12 RBI and five stolen bases in seven games during the voting period
  • Hit safely in all seven games for the Silver Storm, who posted a 6-1 week, the only loss coming to Miami Dade
  • In a three-game series vs. Lake-Sumter State, he was 7-for-11 with a homer and seven RBI

  • 1-0, 0.00 ERA in one appearance during the voting period
  • Threw a three-hit shutout with no walks and 12 strikeouts against nationally-ranked Wallace-Dothan

NJCAA Region 8 Softball Player of the Week
Haley Hinz, Seminole State
Sophomore – LF
Rockledge, Fla. 

  • Batted .600 (12-for-20) with 12 runs scored, three doubles, one triple, two home runs, eight RBI and one stolen base in six games during the voting period
  • Hit safely and scored in all six games, as Seminole State posted a 6-0 record for the week
  • Went a combined 4-for-6 with five runs scored, three doubles and three RBI in doubleheader vs. South Florida State
  • Was 5-for-7 with four runs scored and three RBI in doubleheader vs. Miami Dade

  • Picked up complete-game wins vs. Broward and nationally-ranked Central Florida
  • For the week, she totaled 12 innings in the circle and allowed seven hits, no runs and five walks while striking out 10
