Rob Chaney joined the Florida College System Activities Association as Associate Director on October 1, 2021, and also serves as Athletics Commissioner for the association's 25 schools who participate as members of the National Junior College Athletic Association. At the NJCAA level, Chaney represents Region 8 on the NJCAA's Board of Regents and is also a member of the NJCAA's Swimming & Diving and Division II Volleyball committees.

Prior to joining the FCSAA, Chaney had embarked upon his 24th season with Tallahassee Community College's Athletics Department, a run that began as a departmental volunteer in August 1998. A year later, he was hired as a Communications Specialist, an assignment which officially began December 1, 1999. Nearly a decade later, on January 1, 2009, he began his appointment as the fifth Director of Athletics in school history, a role he filled until departing TCC on September 30, 2021.

At TCC, Chaney was responsible for all external and internal operations, including personnel, budgeting, athletics communications, facilities, development, and gameday operations for the Eagles' eight sports.

The highlight of his TCC career came in 2018 when his first hire, Franqua "Q" Bedell, guided the women's basketball team to its first-ever NJCAA Division I National Championship and the College's first in any sport since 1994. His teams also captured four Panhandle Conference championships and three NJCAA region championships and appered in a total of ten national championship events.

Success wasn't limited to the athletic arena. Team GPAs reached all-time highs and as a result, 73 student-athletes and 21 teams earned academic honors from the NJCAA. Three student-athletes - Meagan Oster (softball, 2011), Elisa Cecchetti (softball, 2017) and Cole Vann (baseball, 2018) - have received the Panhandle Conference's highest academic honor, the Mickey Englett (female) and Dr. Dale O'Daniel (male) Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards.

Growth also marked Chaney's tenure, as four teams were added to the Eagles' portfolio. In 2016, women’s cross country hit the trails, the College’s first new sport in 21 years. Men's cross country debuted in 2017 and Spring 2019 ushered in the newest teams - men's and women's track and field.

In 2017, Chaney oversaw the opening of the Refreshment Services Pepsi & Vending Athletic Training Center, a facility that more than doubled the square footage of the department's previous training room. In 2015, a grant from the TCC Foundation supported the launch of a livestream initiative that expanded coverage of home athletic events to include all sports. Prior to leaving TCC, he collaborated with the TCC Foundation to launch a $3 million campaign with an emphasis on facility improvements and scholarships.

In 2017, Chaney was recognized by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) as an Under Armour Athletics Director of the Year for Junior/Community Colleges. In 2018, he was one of three TCC representatives to receive the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award.

An active member of NATYCAA (National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators), Chaney is currently serving as President for the 2021-22 academic year, culminating with the 2022 NATYCAA Convention in Las Vegas, Nev. He also chaired NATYCAA's Communicatoins Committee from 2016-21 and recently completed a term on the executive committee for the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

While Director of Athletics at TCC, Chaney was a member of the Florida College System Activities Association's (FCSAA) Council for Athletic Affairs (CAA) and had begun a two-year term as CAA Chair on July 1, 2021. He also served as past chair (2015-18) of the Panhandle Conference, FCSAA State Chair for women's basketball (2016-21) and, since 2006, filled the role of scoreboard and web site coordinator for the FCSAA.

A native of Section, Ala., Chaney graduated from Section High School in 1992, where he lettered in three sports - basketball, baseball and swimming - and was valedictorian of his senior class. He graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's in mass communication in 1996 and earned his master's in Christian education from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2007.

He is married to the former Casi Stone, and the couple has one daughter, Aubri Leigh.
