LAKE CITY, Fla. (November 3, 2021) – The Florida College System Activities Association and the Sun-Lakes Conference, on Wednesday evening, announced its Division II All-State volleyball team. 

Comprised of ten member schools, the Division II Sun-Lakes Volleyball Conference stretches from Pensacola State College in Florida's Panhandle to Palm Beach State College on the state's southeastern coast. 

A first- and second-team of 12 players each comprised the All-Sun-Lakes Conference teams, which were also announced Wednesday evening, while the first-team honorees also received FCSAA All-State honors. 

Topping the list is St. Johns River State College's Dariana Luna, who was voted Sun-Lakes Conference Player of the Year. The sophomore libero from Caracas, Venezuela, leads Region 8 with 628 total digs, a number that currently ranks 13th nationally. Her average of 5.61 digs per set is second in Region 8 and tied for 14th nationally. Luna was named NJCAA Region 8 Division II Defensive Player of the Week four times in 2021. 

Coach of the Year honors were bestowed upon St. Johns River State's Matt Cohen after guiding the Vikings to the Sun-Lakes Conference Championship. St. Johns River State finished league play with a sparkling 17-1 record, earning the No. 1 seed in the upcoming NJCAA Division II Gulf District/FCSAA State Championship Tournament. The Vikings, who boast an overall record of 29-4, are ranked No. 8 nationally. 

Luna was joined on the All-State team by St. Johns River State teammates Rickie Sheets and Kendall Hatchett. 

Sheets, a sophomore outside hitter, averaged 3.36 kills/set, good for fourth in Region 8 while her 326 total kills is second-best. Hatchett, a freshman opposite hitter, joined Sheets in Region 8's top ten in both kills per set (2.69, 7th) and total kills (258, 5th). 

Conference runners-up Lake-Sumter State College also placed three members on the All-State team – Xiomara Williams, Kayla Chambliss and Emma Rome. The trio has guided the Lakehawks to a 20-5 overall record and No. 17 national ranking. 

Williams, a sophomore outside hitter, recorded 317 total kills, an average of 3.52 per set, both third-best in Region 8. Showing her versatility, she also averaged 3.63 digs per set. Williams earned NJCAA Region 8 Division II Player of the Week honors on four occasions this season. 

Chambliss, a sophomore setter, is fourth in Region 8 with 8.34 assists/set and second in total assists (776). 

Rome, a freshman outside hitter, joined Williams in Region 8's top five in both kills per set (3.57, 2nd) and total kills (275, 4th). 

Both Pensacola State and Palm Beach State, who finished third and fourth, respectively, in the Sun-Lakes Conference had two representatives on the All-State team. 

For Pensacola State, sophomore middle hitter Amaya Bazemore and sophomore outside hitter Sophia Ortega were recognized. 

Bazemore leads Region 8 with 1.36 blocks per set and is second with a .295 hitting percentage. Ortega, meanwhile, averaged 3.73 digs per set while recording 291 total digs, good for tenth in the region. 

Palm Beach State was represented by sophomore libero Darlenis Medina and freshman setter Natalie Faulkner. Medina is atop the Region 8 leaderboard and ranks ninth nationally with 5.95 digs per set while recording 494 total digs, good for second in the region. Faulkner ranks No. 1 in the region and is 18th nationally with 9.01 assists per set while ranking third in total assists (730).

Rounding out the All-State team is South Florida State College's Madelyn Krafta and Florida State College at Jacksonville's Alanah Best. 

Krafta, a freshman opposite hitter, leads Region 8 and is third nationally with 5.60 kills per set. Her 347 total kills are also tops in the region. 

Best, a freshman middle blocker, is fourth in the region with a .250 hitting percentage. She is also top ten in the region in blocks per set (0.8, 6th) and total blocks (56, 7th). 

Eleven of the 12 all-state recipients will be in action at the NJCAA Division II Gulf District/FCSAA State Championship Tournament, hosted by Florida Gateway College, November 4-6. All matches can be seen live on the FCSAA Digital Network.
