NJCAA Region 8 Volleyball Notebook: October 17

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (October 17, 2017) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its NJCAA Region 8 Volleyball Coaches’ Poll for October 17 and Player, Defensive Player and Setter of the Week selections for matches played October 9-15. 

The next poll and individual weekly awards will be released October 24.

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Player of the Week

  • Averaged 3.8 kills and 3.9 digs per set (ten total) over two matches
  • Helped the Patriots to a 2-0 record last week – a pair of five-set triumphs over nationally-ranked Daytona State and Polk State
  • Recorded a double-double in both matches – 22 kills and 20 digs vs. Daytona State, 16 kills and 19 digs vs. Polk State
  • Also averaged 0.4 service aces and 0.8 blocks while recording a .337 hitting percentage

  • Helped the Manatees to a 3-1 match record last week
  • Recorded 27 digs in her first and last matches of the week vs. South Florida State and St. Johns River State, respectively

  • Helped Hillsborough to a perfect 5-0 record, including a 3-1 win over nationally-ranked St. Petersburg
  • Recorded at least 36 assists in each match, including three with 40+
  • Had 47 assists in win over St. Petersburg, 48 vs. St. Johns River State and 42 vs. Indian River State
