Hillsborough's Abigail O'Ferrell named NJCAA Volleyball Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (September 8, 2016) - Hillsborough Community College's Abigail O'Ferrell picked up Region 8's first NJCAA Player of the Week honor of the season on Thursday.

O'Ferrell, a sophomore outside hitter from Labelle, Fla., was named NJCAA Region 8 Volleyball Player of the Week on Wednesday.

She led Hillsborough to a perfect 6-0 record, including five wins at San Jacinto College’s Military Appreciation Classic, during the voting period which covered matched between August 29 and September 4.

O'Ferrell averaged 4.2 kills, 1.9 digs, 0.5 blocks and 4.9 points over 18 total sets. She posted double-digit kills in her first four matches of the week, including 21 in a five-set win over NJCAA No. 13 Santa Fe, 19 in a straight-set win over No. 7 Blinn and 16 in a straight-set win over No. 14 Panola.
