Polk State's Cristina Castillo named NJCAA Volleyball Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 26, 2016) - Polk State College's Cristina Castillo was named NJCAA Division I Volleyball Player of the Week on Wednesday.

Castillo, a freshman from Lima, Peru, led Polk State to a 2-0 record last week and averaged 10.4 assists per set. 

She was named NJCAA Region 8 Setter of the Week on Tuesday.

Castillo was credited with 44 assists in a win over St. Petersburg College and 39 more in a win over Hillsborough Community College.

She is the fourth NJCAA Player of the Week recipient from Region 8, joining Hillsborough Community College's Abigail O'Ferrell, Palm Beach State College's Haley Seyfarth and St. Petersburg College's Nina Petranovic.
