TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 1, 2016) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its final NJCAA Region 8 Volleyball Coaches’ Poll and Player, Defensive Player and Setter of the Week selections for matches played October 24-30.

The NJCAA District/FCSAA State Volleyball Tournament will take place November 4-6 in Bradenton, Fla.

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Player of the Week
Autumn Freeman, Palm Beach State
Freshman – OH
Arlington, Texas 

  • Averaged 3.8 kills and 4.2 digs over six sets and two matches during the voting period
  • Led Palm Beach State to a 2-0 record
  • Recorded a double-double (21 kills, 25 digs) in a 3-1 win over Miami Dade that helped Palm Beach State wrap up the Southern Conference Championship

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

  • Averaged 9.5 digs over 13 sets and four matches during the voting period
  • Led Miami Dade to three wins in four matches
  • Recorded at least 25 digs in each match, beginning with 34 vs. Palm Beach State. Later added 38 digs vs. Broward, 26 vs. Daytona State and 25 vs. Santa Fe.

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Setter of the Week

  • Averaged 10.3 assists over 11 sets and three matches during the voting period
  • Also averaged 3.4 digs per set
  • Recorded three straight double-doubles – 46 assists and 13 digs vs. St. Johns River State; 29 assists and 10 digs vs. State College of Florida; and 38 assists and 14 digs vs. Palm Beach State
